A mother daughter art duo’s work is on display at Mad Café for everyone to see. Alanna and Denise Wilkins are showcasing their work, as well as photographer Brian Hamilton.
“Brian does his prints on canvas which is a really neat twist on your traditional prints,” said café owner Madeleine Kassinger. Upon walking into the café, one of Brian’s photographs of a table beside a tree can be seen.
Denise has been photographing events in Oshawa for quite some time. She is a published fine art photographer, graphic designer and illustrator with an original artistic vision that is shown through her various projects. Her photography has even been featured on the Oshawa Power website, East of the City and the Art of Transition. Alanna, Denise’s daughter specializes in drawing. A row of five of her framed paintings are on exhibit in the café. The work will be displayed until the middle of February.
In February Mad Café will feature the work of Russell Styles, a photographer who specializes in fine art photography. He uses unique angles in his landscape and architectural images.
The art in the café is an ongoing attempt to bring more attention to the home of delicious cupcakes. Additionally Mad Café has hosted several music events, including several Broken Arts events.
“We have a monthly open mike setup every last Friday of the month,” said Kassinger. Anyone can email the café at madeleine.kassinger@me.com to reserve a spot in the lineup for the jam session.
