The Robert McLaughlin Gallery (RMG) has entered Oshawa into the positive viral Q Live campaign, and they started off at a running start.
The RMG added Oshawa to the campaign on a whim, tweeting two weeks ago that the city has a lot happening with art, music, theatre and more—everything Jian Ghomeshi host of Q Live loves to have on the show.

Jian Ghomeshi is an award-winning broadcaster, producer, writer and musician. His show Q is a national daily talk program on CBC Radio One and bold TV. Ghomeshi produces shows that cover pop culture and he interviews people from around the world that have influential movement in the world of today.
The RMG manager of communications and social media, Jacquie Severs, has an enthusiastic and positive approach with events held at the gallery and the Q campaign is no exception to that.
“It’s an organic grassroots community campaign to bring Q to Oshawa, anyone can help by liking the Facebook page,” said Severs.
But that’s not all, Severs also said that anyone with a twitter account can tweet about bringing Q to Oshawa using hashtags #StudioQ and #JianGhomeshi.
Another unique twist Oshawa has put on the campaign is encouraging people to take pictures with a Q around their favourite spots of Oshawa to show that they really want to see Q live come to the city.
“At First Friday, anyone could get their portrait taken with a big red Q, all of the pictures will be shared on the Facebook page as well,” said Severs.
Oshawa joined a little late in the game, kind of like the underdog in the competition. But with the success the Facebook page and the Twitter mentions have produced for Oshawa, the city has been making it pretty clear to other city competitors like Kingston, Guelph, and Hamilton, that Oshawa is the one to beat.

So if you love Oshawa or Durham Region, and you want to bring Q to this city, you can do several things. You can like the Facebook page, tweet about the campaign and take pictures with giant Qs all over the city.
On Dec. 8 the winning city will be announced live on Jian Ghomeshi’s show.
