Oshawa’s annual Peony Festival is growing in popularity every year.
Hundreds turned out this past June for the free, two-day flower fest at Oshawa’s Botanical Gardens. Event organizer Rosemary Mason from the City of Oshawa said this summer’s event was the best attended ever and drew visitors from far and wide.
“We have a map of where people are coming from and they’re from all over the world really. We’ve had Thailand, China, Romania and then of course from Southern Ontario as well.”
This was the city’s 9th annual Peony Festival and the stars of the show didn’t disappoint with more than 300 varieties of Peonies in the gardens and hundreds on display inside Children’s arena. The event also featured live music, cultural dancing, community displays and great food from local restaurants.
If you missed this year’s event, Mason says the 10th annual Peony Festival promises to be even bigger and better when it is held next June 7th and 8th at the Oshawa Botanical Gardens.
