Get ready to break some breakfast traditions.
At least, that’s what Eggsmart, downtown Oshawa’s newest breakfast joint boasts on its logo.
Located at the corner of King and Mary, they opened three weeks ago and serve breakfast, brunch and lunch from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays and until 4 p.m. on weekends.
Server Sandra Devine says business hasn’t been steady, but she expects it to get busier.
“We did take a long time to open but everyday it’s getting a little more busy. Now that it’s open word’s getting around and it’s getting better,” she adds.
It isn’t just eggs done your way for breakfast though, the menu includes pancakes waffles and French toast as well. There are also lighter options including yogurt served with fruit and cereal with milk.
By the time lunch rolls around there’s more to choose from than the typical breakfast options. While some of the sandwiches and wraps have a breakfast twist, there are common options like a chicken caesar wrap or a Canadian club.
There’s a different all-day lunch deal served with salad or soup from Monday to Friday starting at $7.99.
The crisp lettuce and fruit toppings aren’t the freshest things in the restaurant though. They’re making juice right behind the counter with fresh oranges. If a glass at the table isn’t enough, you can grab a litre of the fresh and pulpy juice for $7.99.
The Oshawa location joins several of the franchises in Durham Region. There are two in Whitby and one in Bowmanville.
