The 45th annual Super Bowl kicks off Sunday, February 4 at 6:30 p.m. How better to celebrate the biggest television event of the year than with friends, beer, chicken wings and chilli? This year’s game sees the Pittsburgh Steelers take on the Green Bay Packers in a fight to be the NFL champions for the 2010 season.
Tanya Albis, manager of The Thirsty Monk says they had a great turn out last year and gave away prizes like a big screen television. “We’re hoping for a full crowd,” she says. “It all depends on who likes the teams that are playing.”
With two popular and iconic teams playing, seats should be packed. Check out what local downtown Oshawa bars are doing to prepare for the big game.

To celebrate Super Bowl, Murphy’s Pub and Grill, located at 15 Simcoe Street N. will be having a chili cook-off. For those interested in competing, here are some tips from kitchen manager Malcolm Charles on how to make the perfect bowl of this infamous football-watching grub.
